Toronto Chat Info

Automatic Refresh has been turned OFF because the server is too slow. That means, you will have to refresh manually for now, sorry. However, I am only allowing you to refresh every hour per person, so you don't refresh like mad, causing the server even more headaches. :D It does however, updated between 2 and 3am. So.. at least it does it once a day.

The number to the right of name is the last time it was refreshed: D = Day and H = Hour.

What does API mean? Well, that's what the Nanowrimo Servers TELL my script what your wordcount is. So, if your wordcount isn't the same as your profile, it's because their API hasn't updated yet. If that makes sense.

Mucho thanks to Vancouver's Xore for his help on MySQL queries! :D

Word War Bot - DEATHBOT (The Most Awesome Bot on the Planet)

What is a word war?
A word war is a speed competition with your fellow wrimos. You choose an amount of time (usually 5 - 30 minutes), you say when you want to start, and then you write as fast as you can to beat the other people. Person with the most words wins!

Word Wars are a great way to get yourself motivated to write and can help a lot with wordcount!

What is the Regional Word War?
Every year, Toronto goes up against another city and competes with them for the whole month of November to see who can get the most words amongst a set number of participants. People sign up for the Word War, and an average of everyone's wordcount is taken. Whichever region has the highest average, wins!

What is DEATHBOT
DEATHBOT is a computer that sits in chat. It kills Errol. But it also referees word wars. It can have multiple word wars going.

How does DEATHBOT Work?
To control deathbot, you write commands in chat. All the commands start with '!', an exclamation mark.
  • !help.
  • !startwar # ##
Create a war for # minutes starting in ## minutes
  • !status - list wars that are in progress or not yet started
  • !joinwar username - join a war that username has started so you get msg'ed on start. You will be private messaged for a word war warning, start, and finish.
  • !status - See wars scheduled or in progress
If you start a word war more than 2 minutes in the future, a warning will be sent out 2 minutes before the war starts

Note: All word war messages come to you in a PRIVATE MESSAGE! A tab will appear in chat from Deathbot. If you joined a word war, and you don't know why it's not saying anything, it's because it's in private message on a separate tab at the top of chat.

DEATHBOT is AWESOME! Who made it? Is he single?
Sean Langley made deathbot.
He even provided sourcecode: http://github.com/slangley/deathbot/

And sorry girls, he's married.
