Toronto Nano Chat Rules!
- Respect each other - This is an all-ages, all welcoming chat. We want you to feel comfortable here; we also want to make sure that a 13 year old (with or without a parent looking over her
shoulder) or an 80 year old first-time novelist will also feel safe here. Not to sound too kindergarten, but please think of others before you speak.
- Welcome Newbs - Welcome and engage newbs. We get visitors from all over the world in ToNaNo chat, and it's all of our responsibility to ensure that this is a healthy, welcoming community
for everyone. We know that some of you know each other well and that there will be in-jokes. But please be friendly to new visitors, as well.
- Introduce yourself if new - We're all friendly in chat... just insane. Please do introduce yourself.
- Listen to the mods - They're here to make the chat room better for you and for everyone else who uses it. Please don't question the mods while you're here - in
the chat room, they are as gods. (Yes, we actually said that.) If you try to bully a mod in chat, you will get booted - and it'll be your own fault. If you have an
issue with the behavior of one of the chat mods (or anything else you see in chat), please speak with them outside of chat or
contact Victoria to report it.
- If something makes you uncomfortable, Speak up - We know we can get out of hand. So if we make you uncomfortable in chat, please tell us. We'll behave. :D
- Restrain yourself when appropriate - Be aware of your audience, and of the people who might wander into chat at any moment and see the log of what you're
saying. What would a parent of a younger WriMo think if she overheard you? We don't mind the occasional swear word or mention of sex (emphasis on occasional). But please keep it as close to PG as possible.
In particular, please note that swear words and references to drugs/sex/etc. are not allowed to be part of chat usernames at any time.

But how do I PM someone?
Click on their name in the user list. You will see a little box with PM. Click it. A new tab starts up. Chat away.
How do I change my username?
Use "/nick Username"
But that just changes my username to "Username". I want it to be something else!
